Our lab

Anjali Hinch

Anjali leads the group and is a Sir Henry Dale and Wellcome-Beit Fellow. She studied maths and computer science at IIT Bombay and MIT and worked as a Strategist at Goldman Sachs before coming to Oxford. She has a DPhil in Statistics and Genomic Medicine from Oxford. She is interested in understanding the biological mechanisms underlying mutation and recombination, and their impacts on human health and the evolution of species.

Martin Houlard

Martin has an abiding interest in chromatin organisation and its regulation during meiosis. He is a senior postdoc and leads the experimental work in collaboration with Myers lab. He is especially interested in uncovering the mechanisms underlying the roles of PRDM9 in meiotic break induction and repair.

Brynelle Myers

Brynelle is an expert in a range of experimental assays including single-cell and single-stranded DNA sequencing and light microscopy. She works on meiotic gene expression in collaboration with Myers lab and has previously worked in the University of Cambridge and the Sanger Institute.

Abed Mosa Al Refaee

Abed is our mathematician from Bristol and enjoys working on large-scale datasets and performing statistical modelling. In his MSc project, he is using computational methods to uncover mechanisms underlying germline mutagenesis in mammals.

Lab alumni

Gang Zhang

Gang is passionate about whole-genome DNA sequencing of single cells and its applications. He developed a novel methodology for single-cell sequencing and applied it to single sperm cells (Science 2019). He is now focussed on applications of this technology in other fields, including cancer and embryogenesis.
